Case Study : Rosemont Copper

Since the announcement of its proposed operations in 2007, Rosemont Copper has pledged to be a good corporate citizen by actively participating, sponsoring, and supporting activities near the Rosemont operations and throughout southeastern Arizona.

Execution
Strongpoint identified and developed a community outreach plan inclusive of the Rosemont Copper Scholarship fund. Underwritten by Rosemont, Strongpoint manages the distribution of 17 college scholarships. In addition, Strongpoint staff acting on behalf of the Rosemont manage the solicitation of donations and speakers to benefit community events. With Strongpoint’s help, Rosemont has established itself as a pillar in the community.

Because the Rosemont project involves federal approval under the National Environmental Policy Act, we have been deeply involved in the aspects of NEPA, including helping to educate the public and the media. We developed the initial website for Rosemont, created the company’s collateral, including printed materials and PowerPoint, and manage its media relations program. Strongpoint developed the community relations program for Rosemont, from helping its executives identify which boards to serve on to establishing and running a speakers bureau for outreach, to developing and managing the company’s corporate philanthropy programs. This important project, which when permitted will become the fourth largest copper mine in the US, is very complex and involves multiple audiences.

Results
Our solid strategy and consistent messaging has helped build community and business support of the project and to propel it toward the end of its permitting process, leading the way to construction and production.
